The pain depends on the individual, but generally we can say: yes, a little. Rest assured knowing that microblading is safe and the pain isn't usually strong with the feeling being mostly described as irritating and itchy.

The microblading process is done via a blade that consists of micro-needles. The artist matches the color of the hair with ink and the ink is sliced into the superficial layers of the skin. The artist creates hair like strokes in order to create a fuller, natural brow design. Pre-treatment instructions for microblading include: Avoid caffeine the day of procedure. Restrain from alcoholic beverages 48 hours prior to procedure. Avoid Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen or any similar pain reliever for 7 days prior to procedure. Tweezing or waxing should be done 48 hours prior to procedure. Do not expose the areas to be treated to the sun or tanning beds for one week prior to procedure. Fillers should be done 6 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure or done 6 weeks after the procedure. Arrive for the procedure with a clean, dry face, and free of any products and makeup. Consult with your physician before taking or discontinuing the use of any medications. It is recommended to NOT have a tan/burn on your face at the time of the procedure. Avoid eyebrow tinting 5 days before the procedure. Facial injections should be performed either 2 months prior to your scheduled procedure or 1 month after your final procedure.

After your procedure, your brow artist will go over specific microblading aftercare instructions with you. Here's a quick overview of some of the microblading care instructions you'll receive: Use Tylenol for minor pain relief. Use small ice packs for 20 minutes maximum to reduce swelling the day of your procedure. You'll also receive instructions on cleaning the area in the days following the procedure. Do not use water, cleansers, creams, make-up, or any other products on procedure area for 10 days. DO NOT use products with fragrances or hard chemicals, peroxide, wrinkle and acne creams, or glycolic acids for 4 weeks following procedure. DO NOT use antibacterial / antibiotic ointments such as Neosporin. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you scrub, scratch, or pick treated areas. AVOID sun exposure, tanning beds, facials, sweating, swimming, whirlpools, and exertion for at least 14 days post-procedure. AVOID sleeping on your face. KEEP ALL PETS away from treated areas until completely healed. FOLLOW ALL aftercare instructions provided.

No, microblading is nothing like permanent tattooing. You will look and feel perfectly fine after the session – your brows will be slightly red and/or swollen, but nothing crazy.

Days 1 & 2: The eyebrow is approximately 20 to 25% darker and bolder in width than they will be when healed. Your skin is red under the pigment, which causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow procedure to flake away and a narrower appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process.

Day 3: Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Exfoliation begins. Star applying a thin coat of ointment provided.

Day 4: The skin begins to flake and peel from the outside edges first.

Day 5: Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer for a few days until color clarifies.

Days 7-10: Color may appear to disappear during the healing process.

Day 11-20: Through the final healing stages, color will emerge and refine.

NOTE: Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly sharper, brighter, or darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition, based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates. Since skin is delicate and sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden for 1-3 days. Semi-permanent makeup procedures are affected by the canvas (your skin) that they are performed on. If your skin is sun damaged (even from tanning beds), thick and uneven textures, and/or excessively dry or oily, the result cannot be expected to be perfect after the initial procedure. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, and age of skin, all contribute to fading. Color refreshers are sometimes needed to ensure the best results and to keep your semi-permanent makeup looking the best.

When we zoom deep into the actual procedure of microblading, we come across the following three phases: the design phase, the blading phase, and the fine-touching phase. During the first phase of microblading, we will design you perfect brows. This means that we use special tools to measure the different parts of your brow-line as well as your facial features, and we'll draw the so-called ‘new brows’ to on your skin. When you see and approve the design, we’ll suggest pigments that go with the color of your skin and hair the best. During the blading phase, we use a special blade that actually consists of 11-14 tiny blades that slice the pigment into the surface layers of your skin. During the fine-touching phase, we use different calming creams on your skin and tell you all about what is going to happen in the following days. This is when you'll receive microblading aftercare instructions so you'll be fully prepared to cope with your changed look and take the best care of your new brows.

Well, it depends on whether you follow the instructions or not :) In all seriousness, you need to follow all microblading aftercare instructions and, perhaps most importantly, keep your skin clean and dry. This means that you should not jump into a pool within a couple of days after the procedure, for example. We also suggest you not do any physical activities that cause heavy sweating. Sun exposure or tanning is also a big no-no for at least 72 hours. In addition to that you should keep your fingers off your new brows - no touching! We all know that the skin starts to really itch and you want to peel off smaller pieces of dead skin, but this can cause infection, further irritation, and can affect your results. Following all instructions and keeping a calm attitude means you should be perfectly fine :) If you're worried post-procedure, don't hesitate to contact us and ask any questions.

As with all services in the beauty industry, the quality of materials used determines, to a large extent, the end result. We only use pigments with the highest quality for our microblading services. The pigments are 100% vegan friendly and do not include any metals. Is microblading permanent? No - the process is semi-permanent because the ink dissolves into your skin throughout time. Our high-quality pigments maintain a natural color throughout time and will not create major irritations.

There are some rare types of skin that do not react to microblading well. However, you should consult with a physician during your consideration for microblading safety. There have been a couple of clients we have turned down because of excessively oily skin, however, this means that the skin must be really remarkably and unusually oily. Chronic skin conditions may also preclude you from our microblading services. You should not go for microblading if you have moles close to your brows and also when there are large capillaries or keratosis in your brow area. You and your artist will discuss all of this and more in your consultation to make sure that you are able to get the procedure safely.
