How Long Does Microblading Take?

Microblading

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at July 23rd, 2022

So, how long does microblading take? If you’ve never had a microblading appointment, you may have questions about what to expect. Since it’s such a precise cosmetic treatment, the process can take a few hours to complete. However, the fabulous results are well worth your time! Microbladed, stylized eyebrows can last up to three years with a little upkeep, care, and routine appointments. Here are a few basic details you should know about your first microblading session and what to expect after it’s done.

The Process

Microblading is a precise cosmetic skin-dye procedure that can take up to two hours to complete. A topical numbing ointment can be used during the treatment, but it is at the discretion of the artist as adding it may change the texture of your skin - changing the canvas; however, they’ll do everything possible to make you feel comfortable before moving forward with the procedure. Measurements, shape, hair texture, and thickness are compared to blade sizes, and pigment color is finalized before any microblading strokes are added to your skin. It can take this long because your artist wants to provide stunning results that don’t look rushed!

Microblade Touch-Ups

Since microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, your stylized brows can last between 18 and 30 months. Even so, you’ll want to consider scheduling a touch-up appointment 1-2 times a year to prevent them from fading completely. Similar to root touch-ups for hair, microblade touch-ups consist of filling in areas that are beginning to fade.  Different skin types can also determine how often you need touch-ups within a year. Waiting too long to schedule your touch-up appointment may require another complete microblading procedure. People with oily skin may need to schedule more touch-up appointments to maintain their brows- oil pushes the pigment to the surface, causing the brows to fade sooner.

Aftercare

Aftercare following your microblade procedure is an essential part of the healing process and maintaining your brows. For the first 48 hours after your procedure, try your best to avoid touching the area and coming into contact with water. Consider waiting a week before continuing with your regular skincare routine. Don’t go swimming or sit in saunas for the first two weeks after your procedure.  Chic Lash Boutique is a premier microblading salon based in Houston. Our experienced brow artists are happy to answer any questions you may still have about the procedure.
