Something that we at Chic Lash Boutique pride ourselves in is employing the best lash artists in Houston. Our artists are highly experienced in what they do. They’re true artists committed to perfecting their craft and giving our clients the best services possible. Theresa Ngo is one of our top lash artists and has been with Chic Lash Boutique since 2012. After putting so many clients in the spotlight with their amazing brows and lashes, we’re going to give Theresa her time to shine with this lash artist spotlight!

Theresa’s Background

One of the great things about Theresa is that she’s experienced all parts of Chic Lash Boutique, including both services and business. While she was getting a B.S. in Health at the University of Houston, she was also working as a receptionist here at Chic Lash. It was in this position where her passion for the lash and brow industry began to grow. “I was intrigued by how creative you can be with such a small area of the face,” she explains. This industry also allowed her to combine her creativity with her formal education since Houston health and wellness is a key part of the Chic Lash Boutique mission. Once she graduated with her degree from the University of Houston, she decided to start her career as a licensed esthetician by attending beauty school. Not only was she attending beauty school, though. “During my beauty school hours, I also started training at [Chic Lash] in order to get first-hand, detailed knowledge on the services particular to my interests,” she explains. Theresa was then able to transition from receptionist to one of our most popular artists at Chic Lash Boutique!

A Love for Learning

If there’s one thing you need to know about Theresa it’s that she has drive and passion for the world of lashes and brows. She’s constantly looking to further her knowledge and understand the science behind everything. Theresa says that as she began working as an artist at CLB, her, “curiosity of the science behind brow shaping & specific facial structure began. I started diving deeper into eyebrows and learned about microblading.” She decided to take lessons from a local microblading artist and continue her education at Everlasting Brows, a well-known international permanent makeup company. Her ambition to provide the best service and take on projects that she’s passionate about is what makes her a legend here at Chic Lash Boutique. “Each year I go to continuing education classes to learn about new research and industry applications,” Theresa says. “I have trained with New Permanent Makeup Technologies USA and attended the Houston Beauty Conference.” This training has qualified her to do some highly advanced techniques including scalp micropigmentation, microblading, and stretch mark camouflage. The love for the industry goes beyond the nuts and bolts. “What I love most is the personal connection I create with my clients,” Theresa says. “Also, the ability to express my artistic thoughts on one individual based on the smallest details of their face. It's a beautiful connection I get to create to help make people happy.”

What Makes Chic Lash Boutique Special

According to Theresa, Chic Lash Boutique’s support for the growth and expression of their artists is what makes it such a unique place to work. “Chic Lash gives me the freedom to express my thoughts and opinions and treat me as an equal part of their needs to grow,” says Theresa. CLB is so special that we have a few celebrity clients that come to see us… not that Theresa realizes, though! “When someone famous has come in to see me for a service, I have no idea who they are,” Theresa laughs. “Once they’re gone, my co-workers start freaking out (in a good way) and I’m usually so confused! We all end up laughing. This has happened several times now… and I will most likely continue not knowing who most famous people are!”

What Makes Houston Special

Chic Lash Boutique isn’t the only thing that Theresa loves about her work. It’s also the fact that she gets to work and live in the Houston area. When we asked her what she loved most about Houston, her answer was, “Absolutely everything!” She did elaborate to praise Houston’s cultural diversity, southern hospitality, and the amazing food in Houston as some of her favorites. The food is probably her top contender since she says it’s easy to get great international and authentic traditional foods all over Houston. “Any specific culture you're curious about learning? Houston most likely has it.”

Theresa’s Expert Advice

As an expert beauty lash artist well-trained and experienced with CLB, we wanted to know what advice Theresa has for those new to getting their lashes and/or brows done. “My best advice would be to trust the artist and keep an open mind,” she says. While she recommends doing ample research to pick a salon and artist, you also need to be able to trust them to do great work once you’ve picked an artist. You also need to have an open mind and communicate with your artist. “Unfortunately, we are not mind readers. Be open and communicate with your artist. If your initial outcome is not what you expected, voice it and both you and the artist can work to achieve the look you are going for.”
