You just treated yourself to some eyelash extensions! How exciting! Now, how to take care of eyelash extensions? This is very important to increase the longevity of lashes and maintain your natural lash health. Most reputable salons will walk you through the aftercare and send you home with a guide on how to care for your lashes. Below we outline steps on how to care for them given the timeframe. During the first 24 to 48 hours With newer glues, the curing process should be complete within the first 24 hours. However, it is safe to avoid excess water on your lashes the first 24 to 48 hours in order to ensure proper curing. Although some moisture aids in the curing of the glue, excessive amounts of water may supersaturate the glue and make it tacky and difficult to dry. During the first 48 hours, the adhesive bond is vulnerable to moisture, steam, excessive heat, cosmetic ingredients, and friction from rubbing and cleansing. The following activities will result in a weaker bond, premature eyelash extensions loss and/or irritation, and therefore should be avoided during the first 48 hours:
