Microblading Tips - The Best Aftercare Strategies

Microblading

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at January 7th, 2022

If you’ve recently had microblading treatment, or you plan to have one done in the future, it’s important to care for your new fabulous eyebrows properly! To make the most of your investment, heal from the procedure, and promote eyebrow longevity, carefully follow microblading aftercare tips. Here are some ways you can care for your new eyebrows after a microblading treatment.

Microblading Tips - Caring for New Eyebrows

Because microblading breaks the skin, keeping the area as dry as possible is important. To promote the healing process, follow the guidelines below:
  • Avoid getting your eyebrows wet in a shower, pool, or sauna
  • Don’t put lotions or cleansers on your eyebrows
  • Avoid using any harsh chemical products on your eyebrows
  • Avoid applying medicated creams or ointments unless your lash artist specifically told you to do so.
In addition to keeping your eyebrows dry and free of chemical compounds, it’s also important to keep the area clean. To prevent infection after microblading, try not to touch your eyebrows. Try sleeping on a clean and sterile pillow/pillowcase, and don’t let pets lick or brush against your face. We know, we love kitty and puppy licks too, but it’s for the best! Never try to scrub or pick at your eyebrows and try to sleep on your back to keep fabrics from touching the area. Tylenol can be taken the day of your session and the day following your microblading session to reduce pain and swelling. Additionally, you can use small ice packs for five minutes at a time to reduce swelling.

Microblading Tips - Seasonal Considerations

Keeping the seasons in mind may be important before getting your eyebrows microbladed. Summer is the warmest time of the year and may increase sweating or irritation of your new eyebrows, especially when microblading in Houston - but this usually isn’t a problem for people who don’t have sensitive skin. On top of the increase of sweating you may experience, summertime also means more direct sun exposure. Direct heat and UV light during the healing process can change the pigment of microbladed eyebrows, so it’s best to avoid it if you can. For the same reason, it’s important to avoid tanning beds during the healing process. Microblading is wonderful during the fall months; the weather is cooler, and you’re less likely to sweat. The sun’s rays are also less intense during the fall than during summer. Of course, people can have microblading treatment any time of the year, and our clients have sessions done all year long, but it’s good to be away from how the different seasons will affect your skin during the healing process.
