Here we are, it’s August! And although some feel it’s the beginning of the end of summer, it’s really not. We’ve got almost two more full months of summer, so there’s plenty of time to hit the beach, enjoy a backyard BBQ, or just get a little extra sun here or there. The summer extends a bit further into the spring and fall in Houston, and we are closer to the equator than most cities in the country, so it’s important to follow summer skin care guidelines and precautions to ensure that your skin doesn’t get damaged and crispy. We’ve talked about summer skin care before, and we want to continue that conversation by suggesting some more tips to keep your skin looking its best while the sun is at its strongest!

In our article from Summer 2020, “How to Prepare for Summer Skin Care,” we covered how there are three main maintenance routines to keeping your skin healthy and beautiful during the summer months. These maintenance routines include: Wear Sunscreen and Sun Protection If you’ve ever experienced a bad sunburn, you know how painful, uncomfortable, and damaging it can be. The sun’s UV rays can cause dryness, burns, dehydration, and long-lasting effects like skin cancer, which is one of the top five most common types of cancer. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day and more if you’re staying active. Add in some sugar-free flavor drops to keep the water intake more interesting. Your skin will look richer, healthier, and more vibrant if you’re properly hydrated.
