Lash Extensions and Humidity - What Lash Artists Have to Work With

A professional lash artist will be prepared and understand what precautions need to be taken when applying lash extensions with less-than-optimal humidity conditions. But, just so you can understand what the humidity can affect during the lash extension application, let’s go over some basics. Eyelash extensions are applied with special adhesive glues that contain a compound called cyanoacrylate. Cyanoacrylate is activated with moisture, so when humidity levels are high, the extension glue will dry quickly. And, on the other hand, when the humidity levels are very low and the climate is dry, the extension glue will dry incredibly slow - this causes lash artists trouble in both regards. If the adhesive activates too quickly and bonds too quickly, they may not have the extensions stylized the way they wanted to. If the glue does not dry or dries very slowly, there’s a risk the extensions will not hold their shape or stay on. A lash extension salon will take environmental precautions to ensure the humidity levels are ideal for lash extension application and styling.
