Curious How Eyebrow Tinting Works? It's Easier Than You Might Think

Many people who aren't familiar with salon services may ask themselves how eyebrow tinting works, but eyebrow tinting is actually super quick and quite easy. It’s also extremely convenient for those with blonde, light brown, or graying eyebrow hair. Eyebrow tinting will color the hairs in order for them to appear darker and bolder. It is very important to know that when getting your eyebrows tinted, there will be some skin transfer. Skin transfer refers to the pigment staining your skin. In most cases, the tint will stain your skin anywhere from 2 to 5 days depending on your skin type. The hairs, on the other hand, will usually remain tinted for 4 to 6 weeks. Eyebrow tinting is quite safe. The tint used is salon grade in order to yield optimal results. The entire process of eyebrow tinting takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. Eyebrow tint comes in a few different shades, depending on the color you are going for, and your artist can choose a pure pigment or mix the pigments to achieve the colored results indicated. Eyebrow tint comes in blonde, middle blonde, ash, auburn, brown, middle brown, neutral brown, dark brown, and black. For in-between colors, your artist will blend colors to create the best match for you. Now to the process. Prior to getting started, your artist will perform a consultation in order to review your desired color and overall look. Once a color is decided, your artist will begin to mix the pigment and oxidize it. The oxidizing agent used is typically hydrogen peroxide-based. It takes a few minutes for the tint to develop prior to placing on your brows. During this time, your artist will clean your brows to make them free of any products or makeup. Once clean and the tint is developed, your artist will begin painting the tint onto your brows within the eyebrow shape lines. The color will be left on your brows for a few minutes for absorption and further development. After a few minutes have passed, your artist will begin cleaning the tint off your eyebrows with cotton rounds and saline. Color can continue to oxidize throughout the day depending on heat but typically willfully oxidize in 15 minutes. It’s important to note that gray and white hairs may not always take the tint as the molecular makeup of those hairs are usually different than standard hairs. So, that's how eyebrow tinting works.
