Microblading

For lots of folks who haven't had microblading done before, perhaps the most common question is the smartest one they could be asking: "Is microblading permanent?" Microblading is semi-permanent, not permanent. This means the tattoo will fade with time and can eventually completely fade and disappear. The reason microblading is semi-permanent and not permanent is due to several reasons. The ink used for microblading are high-quality, vegan pigments. This means there are no heavy metals or binding agents that can irritate your skin or the healing process. Furthermore, during microblading, the ink is placed into the superficial layers of the skin. This is different than a traditional tattoo as traditional tattoos have different inks and are placed deeper into the skin. It’s the immune system cells that keep ink in place. For a better understanding of why traditional tattoos last regardless of how weathered your skin is, check out this NPR article. According to the article, the dermal macrophage is what captures the ink particles and keeps the color held in place. Macrophages go to the tattoo site as an immune reaction. Their job is to help the body heal. What is found is that the macrophages swallow foreign invaders and digest them with acid. However, acid doesn’t break up tattoo ink, leaving the macrophages bounded to the ink, in the place the tattoo was administered. In this way, the macrophage prevents foreign invaders from spreading. Because the body treats a tattoo as a foreign invader it is very important to use high-quality inks during any tattoo service. Microblading is a service done on your brows, therefore on your face. This is a huge reason why it is not permanent. It is semi-permanent to prevent dangerous inks from being used and to accommodate to changing times. It would really suck to have eyebrows tattooed on your face that do not withstand time.
