Does Microblading Fade Completely?

Microblading

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at February 14th, 2019

Does microblading fade completely? Yes, but how long it takes to fade is another question. It depends on your skin type, texture, and routine. It can also depend on the needles and pigments used. Microblading, which is completely safe with a qualified artist, is meant to be semi-permanent. This means it is a semi-permanent tattoo that is intended to fade with time. With no touch-ups, microblading should fade completely within two years after the initial service. This is the intention and reasoning of why microblading exists. This service was brought on as a safer and more conservative approach to eyebrow tattoos. As eyebrow trends come and go, microblading allows each client to grow with the times, always maintaining a brow that’s in style and classic. Microblading-stencil-72 Microblading strokes are meant to look like your natural hairs, to blend in like they are hair. They are meant to fade with time and if you would like to keep up with the look, touch-ups are needed. There are certain circumstances where the tattoo becomes permanent, at this point, it is not necessarily microblading. A permanent tattoo is simply eyebrow tattooing. Inks used for a more permanent look are harsher and have heavier metals in them. Microblading uses natural vegan, high-quality pigments – these pigments are used as they are the safest and mitigate any chance of reaction. Because they are natural, microblading is supposed to fade as your body breaks down the pigment and metabolizes it out of your system. Permanent tattoos remain permanent because your body cannot break down those pigments and process them out.

With microblading, some client’s brows last longer and some fade quicker. This has to do with skin type and routine. Oily skin and larger pores fade the pigments much quicker as the pigment doesn’t have much time to fully absorb into the deeper layers of the skin before coming in contact with oils and being broken down. Normal to dry skin with small pores tend to hold the pigment better, making it lasts closer to the one-year mark. Skin care routine plays a major role as well. Products, services, and chemicals that come into contact with the pigment usually result in a breakdown of the pigment, thereby increasing the rate at which the eyebrows will fade. Selection of needles used is key to the overall look but can also play a factor in the depth the pigment is placed. If a dull blade is used, the pigment won’t be placed at the level needed for absorption. Your eyebrow artist can walk you through all these factors and give you a rough idea of how they feel your eyebrows will hold up with microblading.
