During the consultation process make sure to evaluate the artist, the cleanliness of the salon, and have a patch test done to see if you have any allergies to the glue or extensions used. One should also be conscious and aware of one's own natural and environmental allergies. If done properly, at a professional salon with an experienced eyelash artist, it is very unlikely that you would get an infection. There are many individuals that get eyelash extensions without any issues. However, there is always the chance that eyelash extensions can increase your chances of eye irritability. Chances of increased eye irritation can occur when eyelids and extensions are not cleaned and brushed properly. It is very important to follow the care instructions provided by your artist. Increased eye irritation can also occur if you live in an environment that has high pollen or allergen count. These irritations, if not cared for, can lead to infection. Always consult any irritability with your artist. On the other hand, if your lashes are not done properly there is a greater chance for infection. Not being done properly entails clumping of lashes, wrong length, wrong thickness, or usage of wrong glue/materials. You don’t have to have all factors go wrong for irritation, it could be one factor that causes the irritation. And remember, irritation can lead to infection.
