Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions come in a variety of curls and curvatures. The answer to ‘What is the best eyelash extension curl?’ is not as straightforward as one may hope. There is not a universal curl or a one-size-fits-all curl. This is a falsehood put out into the universe for the commercialization of eyelash salons to quickly pump out another client, generating another dollar. The truth is, we all don’t look alike; our eyes are shaped differently. To select the best eyelash extension curl for your eyes means selecting a salon with highly trained and knowledgeable eyelash artists. Yes, the placement of eyelash extensions is considered an art form and the best artists know their canvas (your eyes). Your eyelash artist should be able to analyze your natural lashes, the shape of yours, and review your oil production factor in order to determine which lashes are best for you. When you go speak with your artist, understanding the various kinds of curls is important for you to know. Here are the different types of eyelash extension curls: J Curl If your lashes are stick straight and you do not want to get a lash lift/perm prior to getting extensions placed on, typically the J curl is best for longevity as it will allow for more points of contact between your natural lash and the extension – meaning more glued connection points. This increases the lifespan of the extension on your natural lashes. C Curl If you are looking to open your eyes a bit more with extensions alone and your lashes are within a certain length, the C curl would be best for you. The C curl is the most commonly used curl for its versatility among different lash types. It is the safest option to go with if you are unsure which curl to use. It will provide a natural looking curl. CC Curl For those that are looking for a slight increase in curvature and have slightly curled natural lashes, the CC curl is your friend. This curl gives that extra oomph factor without having the extension curl back into your eyes. If your natural lashes are extremely curly and curl back on themselves it will be hard for any lash type to be sustainable. What is typically done for clients with this lash type is that they get a lash perm that reverses the curl to slightly straight. Once this is done, depending on the shape of the eyes, a curl can be selected. Most opt for the C curl. D Curl Now we talk about the D curl. The D curl provides the greatest curvature out of the ones discussed in this article. It is not as popular as the C or CC curl and is mainly used for clients that do not have hooded eyes and want the image of their lashes touching their eyebrows or curled up similar to a doll's eyes. If you’re curious about what type of curl will look best on you, feel free to make a consultation with your artist and they will explain all!
